IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL SCHEDULE.

John Smyth Elementary, via CPS, now has a new schedule. The start time for all students will now be 8:30am and the school day will end at 3:30pm. As we continue to strive for the well-being and attendance of our students we hope that the changes produce better attendance. Resources may also be available through our parent advocate Ms. Winston.

• Lifetime Risk: About 13% (or 1 in 8) of women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer during their lives. You can learn more via the Breast Cancer Organization. 

• Early Detection Survival: When caught early at a localized stage before spreading, the 5-year relative survival rate is over 99%.

• Family History is Not Required: Most people who get breast cancer have no family history of the disease; only about 10% to 15% have a relative with it.
