- Gardeneers- Gardeneers implements on-going, full-service support so every student has the opportunity to experience the multifaceted benefits of their school garden. Smyth Garden is pictured to the right. See separate Smyth Garden webpage!
- Ravinia Festival- Their "Reach Teach Play" program enhances K-3 students’ musical skills by providing resident teaching artists for multi-week, interactive music lessons in the classroom.
- UIC College of Education- teacher development and community engagement working with schools and community centers across Chicago to improve educational and life outcomes. Smyth is in the University Village neighborhood.
- Communities in Schools of Chicago- CIS of Chicago works to ensure that every public school student in Chicago graduates high school prepared for success.
- Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program- Their Mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Their Vision is that all youth achieve their full potential.
- ISU STEM- An increased interest and understanding in mathematics and science will improve our ability to solve problems (engineering) leading to new inventions and innovations (technology).
- WE Schools- WE Schools is an experiential skills based program that helps us to teach youth skills to make global change.
- STEM club called S.E.E.C.S- Smyth’s Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, funded by CISTEME365 (Catalyzing Inclusive STEM Experience All Year Round), which is led by Dr. Goddard of the Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
- Fosco Park- Students meet after school and are chaperoned one block by Fosco staff to their fieldhouse at 13th and Racine. Students participate in the Junior Bears football and cheerleading programs (called the Chargers). In addition, there is swimming, arts & crafts, and table games. In the summer, Fosco Park hosts day camp and fitness programs.
- St. Ignatius College Prep- a Jesuit Catholic high school next to Smyth serves as a good neighbor providing community services.
