2022 LSC Election Materials Now Available!
One of the best ways for students, parents and community members to get involved in our schools is to run for a seat on their Local School Council (LSC). LSC elections will be held on April 20, 2022 (elementary school) and April 21, 2022 (high school). Find out everything you need to know about becoming an LSC candidate, participating as a voter, or serving as a paid judge by visiting the Office of Local School Council Elections website. Election paperwork can also be picked up at Smyth or the CPS school where a candidate plans to run.

John M. Smyth IB School is part of Network 6, one of 17 geographical networks throughout the City. Our Network Chief is
Dr. Ethan Netterstrom. The network offices are located at 2245 W Jackson Blvd. Our network office and staff supports us by providing content coaching and other supports throughout the school year.

John M. Smyth IB School is one of approximately 600 Chicago public schools created and operated by the seven-member Board of Education of the City of Chicago appointed by Mayor Brandon Johnson. Current Board members are (as of 1/15/25):
The day-to-day management of the Board is led by Chief Executive Officer, Pedro Martinez. Central office departments assist him in his work. An organizational chart of central office departments is found here: www.cps.edu/about/leadership. The Board and executive officers and central departments have their main offices at 42 West Madison Street, Chicago, Illinois 60602. Satellite Offices for certain central office departments or business units are at the following locations:
