At Smyth Elementary, our Cluster Program serves students in grades K–8 who benefit from a highly structured, supportive, and individualized learning environment. Our classrooms are designed to meet the diverse academic, social-emotional, and functional needs of students with significant learning differences and disabilities.

We use the Unique Learning System (N2Y) as our core curriculum, which is aligned to standards but adapted to meet each student’s individual goals. Teachers use a combination of hands-on activities, visual supports, assistive technology, sensory tools, and positive behavior supports to ensure students can access learning in a way that works best for them.

Academic instruction focuses on functional literacy, math, communication, and life skills, with integrated support for social-emotional growth and independence. Instruction is individualized based on IEP goals, and students are provided with differentiated lessons, small-group learning, and one-on-one support.

In addition to academics, we offer enrichment opportunities through technology and robotics—including participation in programs like Robotics 4ALL and the Special Olympics Robotics Club. These activities help build critical thinking, collaboration, and confidence.

Family engagement is a cornerstone of our program. We invite families to join classroom events, celebrations, and field trips, and we provide regular updates to keep them connected to their child’s progress and daily experiences.
Our goal is to provide a safe, inclusive, and joyful environment where every student is empowered to learn, grow, and thrive at their own pace.
